Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

The Call is a personal surf-forecasting tool. This policy explains what information the app uses, what's stored where, and why.

Location

The Call uses your device's location, when you choose to share it, to determine which surf spots are near you and to fetch weather, swell, and tide data for that area. You can also browse spots in other regions manually without sharing your location. Location is used only to make these requests — it is not sold or shared with any third party for advertising or tracking purposes.

Account and cloud sync (optional)

Creating an account is optional. The core features of the app — daily spot recommendations, forecasts, and browsing the spot database — work fully without one. If you choose to create an account, we collect your email address for authentication, and the following data syncs to our server (via Supabase) so it's available across your devices: your board quiver, journal entries, custom spots, appearance preferences, wave preferences, and saved location/region settings. If you don't create an account, this same data is stored only locally on your device and never leaves it.

Photos

If you choose to upload a profile photo or attach photos to journal entries, those images are stored in our cloud storage (via Supabase) tied to your account, so they sync across your devices. Photos are not shared publicly or with any third party, and are only accessible to your account.

Data stored locally on your device

If you don't create an account, your board quiver, custom spots, journal entries, appearance preferences, and location/region settings are stored only in your device's local browser storage and never transmitted anywhere.

Third-party weather and tide data

The app fetches public marine, wind, and tide data from Open-Meteo and NOAA to generate forecasts. These requests include only geographic coordinates (latitude/longitude) needed to retrieve conditions for that location — no personal identifiers are sent as part of these requests.

Deleting your data

If you have an account, you can request deletion of your account and all associated cloud-stored data (journal entries, photos, quiver, custom spots, and preferences) at any time by contacting us using the information below. Deletion is permanent.

No advertising, no tracking

The Call does not display ads and does not use third-party analytics or advertising tracking software.

Children's privacy

The Call is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children.
